FAQ’S
Quisqueya Crisis Relief grew out of Quisqueya Christian School following the 7.0 earthquake of
January 12, 2010. The Quisqueya Christian School campus sustained no damage during the quake,
so we are using our campus to bless others through the QCR.
–What do you do at the Quisqueya Crisis Relief? –
Our major functions include:
1) Housing medical teams.
2) Communicating with Haitian medical facilities to decide where medical personnel and supplies are needed.
3) Assigning them to work in medical facilities throughout Haiti.
4) Providing medical teams with transportation and interpreters.
–Where are you located?–
QCR is located on the same campus as Quisqueya Christian School at the corner of Delmas and Delmas 75.
We are 30 minutes from the Port-au-Prince airport and one block away from the Canadian Embassy.
–Who can come to Quisqueya Crisis Relief for a mission trip?–
While we are incredibly grateful for all the love and prayer for Haiti from around the world, QCR only houses medical personnel (no construction teams, journalists, etc).
–How do I schedule my medical mission team to stay at Quisqueya?–
Please go to: qcsrelief.quisqueya.org , click on “info”, then “group information” to fill out a registration form.
We will contact you to confirm your trip.
To receive a packet with more information or ask questions about availability for future dates, please email relief@quisqueya.org.
–What do you provide when my team stays at Quisqueya?–
* Safe housing
* Shower facilities.
* 2 meals/ day
* Transportation to/ from airport/work-sites
* Interpreters
–What does it cost?–
Quisqueya charges a $50 per-person, per-day fee to cover our costs in running our relief operations.
–Is your campus safe?–
Yes. Our campus is walled, gated, and guarded 24/7. However, Haiti suffers from great poverty and each person should make his/her own judgment about whether travel to Port-au-Prince is best for them.
–What should I bring?–
*Water bottles,
*Bedding (air mattress, tent, or whatever you prefer)
*Snacks (Granola bars, trail mix, etc.),
*Comfortable, work-appropriate clothing/footwear
*Mosquito netting/high-DEET-content bug spray
*Battery-powered fans/earplugs may make you more comfortable.
*Rain gear is a great idea.
–What do you need?–
Please contact us at relief@quisqueya.org prior to collecting/purchasing supplies so we can give you our most updated “needs list”.
–Can I donate to your medical relief work?–
Yes! Please visit our PayPal link at http://relief.quisqueya.org to give.
–I can’t come to Haiti now, but I want to help. Can I collect aid items to send you?–
At this time, shipping items to Haiti is extremely inefficient and expensive. Any aid items coming into the country need to be hand-carried by medical teams in their luggage.
–Is your school still operating?–
Yes, Quisqueya Christian School is still educating 67 of our 276 students as we have done for over 35 years!
